NextBrick's Web Document Manager (WebDM) is a web-based document manager that includes most major document management features including create/edit/delete, roles & permissions, versioning, administration, and personal and shared folders. WebDM is built on the open-source Apache Jakarta Slide product, a WebDAV server which includes the capablility to be remotely mounted as a web folder for any WebDAV client such as a Windows or Mac client machines. WebDM provides workflow management features including a workflow builder and complex document routing based on business rules.
WebDM is useful for a variety of situations where users are not located on the same local LAN, and need web-based access to a shared file server. Because WebDM is web-based, users can log on from any web browser and access important information. Some of the capabilities of WebDM extends beyond those a basic fileserver usually provides and allow team-based collaboration. For instance, users can share documents with people that don't have an account on WebDM for a limited time period by using a wizard to create a special URL the document can be downloaded from. WebDM integrates with existing user stores such as LDAP and ActiveDirectory servers, and can run on Windows, Linux, or Unix servers. WebDM is licensed on a per-CPU basis and OpenDoc can provide optional professional services as well for clients who want custom integration and deployment assistance.
