Search Interface Design
A key consideration of a successful FAST deployment is how to correctly design interaction screens for both novice and expert users, providing hints and tips that guide users to the correct answer to their search or browse directed interface. Our knowledge of the full range of FAST query syntax and APIs as well as best practices related to search user interface design means customers fully maximize their FAST investment and provide users with the best possible search interaction capabilities.

SDA Development & Implementation
FAST ESP is often used to develop what FAST terms "Search Derivative Applications" (SDAs). NextBrick's experience with SDAs includes the ability to implement and customize existing FAST SDAs for your environment, including Marketrac, Advisor, mSearch, ProPublish, inStream, NXT, and Folio. NextBrick can develop SDAs for clients which achieve customized application requirements on top of structured and unstructured data. NextBrick has project delivery capabilities to assist in the scoping of custom SDAs, as well as the development capability to deliver your custom SDA on time and under budget.

Connector Development
NextBrick can develop custom connectors to repositories which FAST does not currently provide connectors to. For customers who have a multitude of content repositories within various departments, this can be a critical service deliverable to ensure that FAST ESP can integrate with all enterprise content.

Metadata and Taxonomy Consulting
NextBrick has extensive experience developing metadata, taxonomy, and categorization strategies and solutions for various internet and intranet customers based on the FAST ESP platform. Our taxonomy delivery services includes assessment of current assets and strategy assessment workshops, thesaurus term and taxonomy topic construction, metadata indexing strategies, and user interface development, all based on the FAST platform as a back-end search and categorization engine. NextBrick built a leading-edge taxonomy based system the Naval PostGraduate School's Homeland Security Digital Library based on the FAST ESP platform.
